Music for the Masses

Within the arts festival, there were three stages for music that featured something for everyone. Then, there were musical performances held at the amphitheatre that is next to the Library.

Here is one of the musical acts, belly dancers.

As you can see, it held the attention of the crowd...especially the guys sitting down in the front row with their video cameras. I had to hold my camera over my head to get these shots because the crowd was so jammed in.

The photos can't capture the alluring dance that these ladies put on. I can assure you that they were very good at this.

This is the stage where a jazz band was playing it up. The man in the blue shirt and white pants on the left side in front of the stage is truly a jazz music lover. I remember seeing him last year and prior years at the Salt Lake City Jazz Festival, up front dancing around. He is fun to watch because he interprets the music in ways I never could imagine. Benjamin was wiggling around in his stroller to the beat of the music as well.

Now, this is how one should watch jazz. Sitting at a nice comfortable table, under the shade of the trees, sipping a cold drink with your best friends. The band playing created some very relaxing jazz.

At another stage to the east of the Library was a techno band. When we first arrived, there were only a few people sitting on the grass. The band was warming up, trying to decide which songs they wanted to play. They were doing sound checks and sort of jamming around to get into the groove. By time we came back, a crowd was standing on their feet dancing and really getting into the beat.
I didn't get the name of the band, but the crowd was really enjoying the show. Vero and Benjamin were dancing around to the music. Unfortunately, the pictures of them were too dark and blurry...should have used the flash.
Watching live music is always a treat, especially if the bands are good.
