We celebrated Benjamin's first birthday at the Fairmont Aquatics Center in Sugarhouse.

A big snowstorm came in and pounded Salt Lake City the night before and continued throughout the day of the party. People we invited were delayed by bad road conditions and most missed the cake, but were still able to swim to their heart’s content. Benjamin was very timid about the cake, he didn't grab a handful of cake as we thought he would.
Our good friends, Jorge and Venus brought their 1 ½ year-old daughter, Eva Marie. Eva had fun playing in the water with her dad. We think that Benjamin and Eva will dance the Tango together when they’re older since they’re so close in age.

Other good friends showed up as well, like Edwin, his wife Christine and their two sons. Later, Erica with her two daughters and some cousins also showed up. Although the storm delayed our guests, it ended up being a ton of fun in the pool.

I envy you getting to raise your son from birth and having the opportunity to document it for him. I wish I had had the opportunity to see my kids at that age; to witness their curiosity at everything. I love James' expression of curiosity in this picture. He is clearly captivated by the gurgling water.
