This is the main entrance. Cyclists are allow access on only odd days of the month, so hikers and joggers are provided a time without worrying about bike traffic. Google Map to City Creek Canyon.
The road up the canyon is paved until you get to the water treatment facility, then it becomes a mix of gravel and partial pavement. However, the road has been improved and now there is more paved than not.
The road has a pretty steep elevation, so be sure to bring a lot of water, sunscreen, and double check the brakes on your bike.
We have a trailer that Benjamin rides in. It is perfect since he is able to sleep, make noises, scream, or play with his toys. Pulling the trailer is a different story...we will trade off because the road is steep.
This is one of many picnic areas that are available. Just beyond the trees is a stream you can hear. It is difficult to imagine that you're so close to downtown Salt Lake City when you're up here. Benjamin was soundly sleeping in his trailer when we arrived.
Mom is getting him out so we can have breakfast. Luis (in the blue jersey) pulled Benjamin up the canyon on this trip, which made me very thankful. The man in the yellow is our friend Bob, he is very athletic and enjoys City Creek.
Once Benjamin woke up, he was running around and throwing rocks. This is one of his favorite pasttimes now. We keep reminding him to not throw rocks at people, animals, glass, or straight up.
Bob was demonstrating Tai Chi, which he is an instructor. Benjamin was fascinated.
