*** Eggonomics ***

Spring always announces itself on the calendar with the arrival of Easter. Of course, Easter isn't quite the same unless the kids color eggs (that mysteriously end up hidden for them to find.)

First of all, we're grateful for Venus and Jorge offering their home as ground zero for colored eggs. Venus had the eggs boiled,  the dye mixed and ready, and a table cloth to avoid stains. With mom's help, Benjamin started coloring his eggs.

Venus helped Melina color hers.

Eva was busy with her eggs as well.

Eventually, everyone was into coloring eggs and being very creative. Some impressive eggs were dyed and a wax design was rubbed on. This was followed by dying them again, followed by rubbing more wax on. Mom made some very impressive designs and colors. I wasn't thinking clearly enough to take any pictures of the eggs.

The next day we invited our friends to our house to search for those elusive eggs. When they arrived, it was pretty chilly outside, but being with great friends, things warmed up immediately. Our banister served well as a place to hang coats.

Before the hunt, everyone ate brunch while it warmed up outside. The adults visited in the dining room while the kids played in Benjamin's toy room.

When it was warm enough, the hunt was on.  Venus and Jorge gave the girls hints on where they might find an egg.

Where could they be at...they're so well camouflaged!

Melina was impressed with what she found; she had to show Paul.

Among the eggs was a laughing egg that “egged” anyone near. It would taunt, “You can't find me, ha ha ha ha...” The kids were excited to see what was making all that sound.

After the hunt was finished, it was time to open the plastic ones to find what was inside. Besides the usual chocolate eggs and candy, some had folded dollar bills while others had dollar coins.

The best part of Easter is not the eggs or the meal. It is the time that we're able to spend with our friends and share.
